Record Stop Exclusive Release of Celia Cruz's En Vivo: 100 Anos de Azucar Vinyl Collector Set

Eric Nail
On the heels of the success of partnering with the highly-successful Philly Special Christmas charity album - the holiday album released by several stars of the Philadelphia Eagles - Record Stop and Monostereovinyl have spiced things up by helping release and distribute the new Celia Cruz offering of En Vivo: 100 Años De Azúcar - sure to be a real collector's item for fans.

"Cruz rose to fame in Cuba during the 1950s as a singer of guarachas, earning the nickname 'La Guarachera de Cuba'. In the following decades, she became known internationally as the 'Queen of Salsa' due to her contributions to Latin music. She had sold over 10 million copies, making her one of the best-selling Latin music artists.

Mike Gomez, Chief of Operations at Record Stop / Monostereovinyl, said this about the project:

"We heard about the new music from the mastering giant and Charleston local Vlado Mellor we new we wanted to be involved. Vlado connected and said he was finishing up some tracks from a recently-found 'lost' recording of a live Celia Cruz show in Miami in 1986, he said this needs to be put out on vinyl and called me up."

Gomez continued: "I've done some interesting packaging in the past, and an artist like Celia Cruz deserves to be shown off. What better way than to present it in a sequins box set - complete with one of Celia's own dresses. We were so glad to be able to work with Celia's management team Omer Pardillo Cid (the executor and trustee of Cruz’s estate) and also the label putting out the music, Loud and Live out of Miami (https://loudlive.com/)."

There are three packages being released with this new Celia Cruz offering:
  • A Collector's Box Set - which features the lost, unreleased 1986 Recording of Celia Cruz Live from Miami vinyl on 180-gram, a 100-page hard cover photobook, limited prints and an authentic sequin on the box cover from Celia's own personal garment! (This will be limited to 250)
  • The Box Set - Featuring the unreleased 1986 Recording of Celia Cruz Live from Miami on 180-gram vinyl, the 100 Page Hard Cover Photobook, limited prints.
  • A Standard Vinyl - which will be available for pre-order, but won't be available until later in the year (release date to-be-determind.)
