Inspired by the birth of her son Rene-Charles, Celine Dion reached out to famed baby photographer Anne Geddes to collaborate on MIRACLE, a collection of lush songs performed by Dion, accompanied by the charming infant photographs of Geddes. The French-Canadian songbird pours herself into a bilingual rendition of "Brahms' Lullaby," along with a gentle version of "What a Wonderful World," and a lighter-than-air take on John Lennon's "Beautiful Boy."
As precious as the babies presented in the artwork are Dion's cover of Ewan MacColl's timeless "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" (best known as a Roberta Flack staple) and a sprightly interpretation of Henri Salvador's "Le Loup, La Biche et le Chevalier (Une Chanson Douce)." The Geddes-designed booklet is as sumptuous as the music, and amid its 19 pages are images of Dion posing with newborns in costumes made up to look like various flowers, including roses, lotuses, and orchids. Those wishing to indulge in a more expansive version of this project are directed to a separate set made up of the album, a "making of" DVD, and a coffee-table book.
