This brief ten-track budget release features sides Marvin Gaye cut for Columbia Records in 1982 just after he ended his long tenure at Motown Records, which means it includes the majestic "Sexual Healing" (presented here in the 12" single version), Gaye's last great song. The other selections are OK (this is Marvin Gaye, after all) but are hardly on a par with his Motown work. The other essential here is the final cut, Gaye's startling and stirring re-imagining of "The Star-Spangled Banner" at the 1983 NBA All-Star Game. It was to be his last public appearance. ~ Steve Leggett
