On their self-titled debut, the harmonizing duo of Cassandra Lucas and Charisse Rose are striving to change the face of today's female delivered R&B. While they might be compared to groups such like Mel & Kim or Zhane, what distinguishes Changing Faces is their delivery of smooth, groovy love songs instead of the likely dance tracks.
With hip-hop firmly in control of the current scene, today's R&B lacks the slow rhythmic tunes that dominated in the '80s. But the vocal performances on CHANGING FACES reassure the audience that '90s rhythm & blues can be as smooth as ever. The softness of "Thoughts Of You" is enhanced by Darrin Whittington's piano work, while R. Kelly provides his trademark "bump and grind" for "Foolin' Around," "All Is Not Gone" and "Stroke You Up" (the duo's first single). Kenny "Smoove" Kornegay contributes the majority of the production, keeping the vibe of CHANGING FACES true to his own fitting nickname.
